A Smattering of Syllables..

Poetry is something I fell in love with at an early age. The rhyme and meter have always fascinated me, however, the one form of poetry that I have come to enjoy writing more than any other is the syllabic measured poem.

Haiku

This happens to be, quite possibly, my favorite form of poetry to write. Following the traditional 5/7/5 structure.

Tanka

Sometimes, a haiku just won’t do, and you need to add those two additional lines of 7 syllables each.

Cinquain

A form of syllabic poetry introduced to me by the fine folk over at YeahWrite.me that I have come to enjoy. It follows a 2/4/6/8/2 structure.

Lune

I don’t write many of these, as the haiku has my passion, but sometimes, a lune will do just nicely. It has a 3/5/3 structure to it.
